Berhault

France, 2008, 69 minutes
Directed by Gilles Chappaz, Raphaël Lassablière
Produced by Philippe Savoyat
North American Premiere

Over his 30-year career, Patrick Berhault carried out unique and spectacular endeavours, always in the name of humanity and moral principles. He was an artist of vertical walls, whose death on the Dom ridge in 2004 was a great shock beyond just the climbing community. But do we really know who Berhault was? How could he love and get along with everybody in a world where meanness and jealousy are rife? Patrick Edlinger, a long-time friend; Laurent Chevallier, director of his first films; and Philippe Magnin, his last climbing partner, provide insight into Berhault’s personality and choices. In French with English subtitles.

Apocalypse Snow — Le Retour

France, 2008, 27 minutes
Directed and produced by Didier Lafond

Twenty-five years after the first Apocalypse Snow, Didier Lafond gives us its follow-up. The original was a cult snowboard film that spawned vocations, even passions, for several generations of snow athletes across the world. Some of the best riders on the planet appeared in front of Lafond’s lenses for this shoot. The Apocalypse saga is relaunched in this high-speed snow chase between a bad guy rider and the good guys who want to retrieve the secret of gliding, previously stolen from them.
