Exhibition Celebrates 25 Years of
Mountain Films
The Banff Centre for Mountain Culture today announced the launch of the Banff Mountain Film Festival Exhibition. This project ,which received $22,000 through the Canada Millennium Partnership Program (CMPP), will stage a special exhibition celebrating 25 years of the Banff Mountain Film Festival. The exhibition will tour to major cities across Canada. "The Banff Mountain Film Festival Exhibition underlines the importance of mountain culture to our Canadian identity," said the Honourable Herb Gray, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister responsible of the Government of Canada's millennium initiative. "The exhibition's tour to cities outside the mountain community will bring a breath of the Rockies to other Canadians and fill them with inspiration and pride. The Government of Canada is proud to support the exhibition with a maximum financial contribution of $22,000 through the Canada Millennium Partnership Program (CMPP)." "The CMPP program contributes up to one third of eligible project costs, while other organizations and the private sector provide the remaining funding. CMPP-supported projects promote our history, our youth, our arts and culture, our environment and the development of our communities." Bernadette McDonald, Director of the Banff Centre for Mountain Culture, said the exhibition will provide a lasting legacy to both the mountain and the Canadian community. "It's exciting to be able to bring a glimpse of the Banff Mountain Film Festival history to our loyal tour audiences across the country and to introduce the festival to Canadians who may not know us." The Banff Mountain Film Festival 25th Anniversary tour and exhibition is made possible with the help of partners, sponsors and volunteers including The Canada Millennium Partnership Program, the Banff Mountain Summit and the Banff Centre for Continuing Education.
