Robert Rhoades
Robert E. Rhoades is professor of anthropology and director of the Sustainable Human Ecosystems Laboratory at the University of Georgia, U.S.A. He has more than four decades of experiences in international development with a focus on mountain regions. He has worked extensively in the Andes, Himalaya, and the Spanish Sierra Nevada. He has over 130 publications including books, journal articles, and popular press items. He has won numerous awards for his work, including National Writer’s Award, Praxis Award in Anthropology, Creative Research Award, and Fulbright Fellowship.
Over the past decade he was leader of a large interdisciplinary project, Sustainable Agriculture and Natural Resource Mangement (SANREM), in Cotacachi, Ecuador. In 2000-01, he served as the Mountain Forum’s Board Member for North America.
