Hachivi Edgar Heap of Birds was born in Wichita, Kansas in 1954. He graduated from the University of Kansas in 1976, received his Masters of Fine Art degree in 1979 from the Tyler School of Art at Temple University in Philadelphia and undertook graduate studies at the Royal College of Art in London. His work has been exhibited at the international exhibition Documenta, the New Museum in New York and numerous other exhibitions throughout the United States and Canada. He is a headsman of the Tsistsistas (Cheyenne) Elk Warrior Society and an associate professor of painting at the University of Oklahoma. In 1989, he was the recipient of the National Arts Award from the Tiffany Foundation in New York. He lives in Geary, Oklahoma. Contributor to: |
