Awards & Accolades

The Banff Centre salutes the following alumni and faculty for these recent awards:


Tom and Isobel Rolston, who led Centre’s music programs from 1965 to 2005, Greg Hollingshead, Writing Studio program director, and theatre alumni One Yellow Rabbit company, all recipients of 2007 Lieutenant Governor of Alberta Arts Awards;

Don McKay, winner of the 2007 Griffin Poetry Prize;

Aganetha Dyck and Murray Favro, winners of 2007 Governor General Awards for Visual and Media Arts;

Ceramicist Paul Mathieu, winner of the 2007 Saidye Bronfman Award for excellence in fine arts;

Contemporary artist Michael Snow, winner of the first MOCCA (Museum of Contemporary Canadian Art) Award in Contemporary Art;

2007 Audio Engineering Society international award winners Julia Havenstein, Christin Dross, and Nathan Moore;

Noah Richler, winner of the 2007 British Columbia Award for Canadian Non-Fiction, and fellow nominees Marian Botsford Fraser and Dragan Todorovic;

2007 Juno Award winners, including: Jon Ballantyne, Traditional Jazz Album of the Year; Jean-Marie Zeitouni and Les Violons du Roy, Classical Album of the Year: Solo or Chamber Ensemble; Michael Schade and Richard Bradshaw, Classical Album of the Year: Vocal or Choral Performance; and Steve Bellamy recording engineer on the Juno-winning CD Bloom by The McDades;

Brian Calliou, program director for Aboriginal Leadership and Management, winner of the Dr. Douglas Cardinal Award from the Native Centre and First Nations Student Association at the University of Calgary;

The Banff Centre, awarded “Presenter of the Year” by the Canadian Arts Presenting Association (CAPACOA). The award recognizes excellence and achievement in the presentation of touring performances.
