About The Banff Centre

The Banff Centre Revitalization

Inspiring Creativity. Fostering Leadership.

Banff Centre Revitalization will build an environment for creativity, innovation, and leadership. It will inspire exceptional artists and thinkers; fostering the leaders Canada needs for vital sustainable communities. It includes scholarships and programming that will enable those leaders to share knowledge, to push boundaries, and to create and showcase new work.

“What we are looking for is not a retreat, but a place where people go so that they’ll be more effective in the world…”
– Benjamin Zander,
   in the Banff Dialogues

It will create multidisciplinary state-of-the-art facilities that will result in some of the most intensive and innovative learning opportunities in the world.

There is no other place in the world like The Banff Centre. For over 75 years, the Centre has inspired Canada’s creative leaders. This project will revitalize an institution Albertans, and Canadians, can be proud of.

Phase One of Banff Centre Revitalization began in the Spring of 2006 and is scheduled to be complete in 2010.

The Banff Centre has been successful in securing $127.2 million to fund the capital costs of Phase 1 of Banff Centre Revitalization ($99 million) and to provide enhanced support for programming ($28.2 million). Of the total funds secured, $61 million came from the Province of Alberta, $22.9 million from the Government of Canada, and $43.3 million from the private sector.
