Violinist Daniel Phillips enjoys a versatile career as a chamber musician, soloist, and teacher. He is a co-founder of the Orion String Quartet, which serves as the resident quartet of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center in New York City. The Quartet has performed the complete Beethoven quartet cycle at Lincoln Center and in Kansas City, Pittsburgh, and Indiana, as well as the complete quartets of Bartók at the Lincoln Centre. The Orion String Quartet is often involved in unique collaborations including an international tour with the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company and a premiere in 2006 of a new work by Wynton Marsalis. Daniel Phillips is professor of violin at the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College (CUNY). |
