Double bassist Michael Bates leads Outside Sources, a jazz quartet with Quinsin Nachoff (saxophone and clarinet), Kevin Turcotte (trumpet), and Mark Timmermans (drums). Outside Sources, a combination of traditional jazz and 20th century classical peppered with middle-eastern flavours, is a project “wholeheartedly recommended” by jazz icon Dave Douglas.
