Scholarships available for leaders of non-profit organizations
By Lindsay Parker
Now more than ever, leaders within non-profit organizations need to explore new and strategic approaches to leadership. In many cases, funding streams and donations have declined, triggering the need for a more strategic, long-term vision to weather the current storm and identify creative opportunities for new sources of funding. At the same time, organizations are experiencing budget cuts that often impact the ability to pursue professional development that contributes to this kind of innovation.
Scholarships for non-profit organizations are now available for Leadership Development program at The Banff Centre, with a particular focus on youth and environmental organizations.
Leadership Development at The Banff Centre has a long history of supporting non-profit leaders in enhancing their strategic and innovative capacity. In fact, nearly 20 per cent of individuals participating in our programming are members of non-profit organizations. This is, in large part, due to the availability of scholarships from a wide range of corporate and private donors that make it possible for non-profit leaders to receive partial or complete financial support to attend our programs.
Gladys Blackmore, a participant from the United Way Grand Prairie and Region, who attended Leading Strategically this past April, appreciated the sponsored funding that allowed her to attend. “Not-for-profits don't often get great leadership training, yet they provide such value to our communities. This course was significantly more than I anticipated and I feel honoured I was able to attend. ”
Leadership Development programming at The Banff Centre fosters innovation, creative problem-solving and personal growth for both non-profit and private sector participants. Application deadlines for some scholarships are fast approaching.
