Art’s Birthday Party
Thursday, January 17, 2013 - 9:00 p.m.
Glyde Hall 3rd Floor Performance Space
Jordan Bennett, Turning Tables, 2010.
In 1963 the artist Robert Filliou proposed a public holiday to celebrate the presence of art in our lives: an annual celebration known as Art's Birthday. This year, on the occasion of Art’s 1,000,050th birthday, Walter Phillips Gallery will host a party inspired by the act of turn-table scratching. Party guests will create their own intaglio prints by scratching into vinyl records and printing their finished designs in our printmaking studios. Guest DJ, Jordan Bennett, will provide the sonic backdrop for this unique evening of music, dancing, creativity, and birthday cake. This event is recommended for ages 18 and older.
