Sometimes funny, sometimes sad, always fresh, this film screening of main scenes shot during the 2010 Women in the Director’s Chair program serves up new stories by talented women filmmakers from across the country: Asna Adhami, Elizabeth Becker, Catherine Bruiher, Geraldine Carr, Michelle Latimer, Annette Mangaard, E Jane Thompson, and Ada Vaughan.
Make Your Own Cat Whisker Radio

A cat whisker radio is a lo-fi AM radio receiver made of a handful of basic components: wire, a diode, an earphone, and a toilet paper tube. Without batteries or power, you can extract audible AM radio from thin air. In this workshop led by artist Darsha Hewitt, you will have the chance to create and test your own radio. All ages welcome. No advanced technical knowledge required. Bring an empty toilet paper tube and something to mount your radio on (foam, cardboard, plywood etc.).

Led by artist Peter Flemming, this workshop uses discarded objects, outdated consumer technology, DIY mechanical devices, and custom electronics to harness the sun’s power. Taking advantage of the intense February rays in Banff, the workshop will show you how to use solar power to create something useful. All ages welcome. No advanced technical knowledge required.
