Known as the Ultra Marathon Man, philanthropist and best-selling author Dean Karnazes is well known for expanding the limits of human endurance, including running 50 marathons in 50 states in 50 consecutive days, ending with the New York City marathon, which he completed in 3:00:30. A climber, mountain biker, surfer, and windsurfer, Karnazes began running to fight insomnia, and has turned it into his career. Along the way, he has helped to raise millions for charities working to preserve the environment and promote health and wellness for youth.
