Chris Sharma: Chris Sharma is the King. The King of sport climbing that is. Sharma's reign for the past dozen years has been as a master of firsts, as he continues to set new standards around the world. At 14, Sharma won the U.S. Bouldering Nationals. A year later, he completed a 5.14c climb - the highest-rated climb in the American rating system at the time. His 2001 route, Realization, was the first confirmed 5.15a in the world, and his 2008 ascent of the 75-metre line, Jumbo Love was rated 5.15b. Well known to the Banff audience through films including the 2007 award-winning King Lines, Sharma will share stories, images, and film clips from his extraordinary climbing career.
Mike Fay - Redwood Transect: Conservationist Mike Fay's career in environmental exploration spans more than 25 years, and has taken him from the Sierra Nevada, to Alaska and Central America, and to the forests and savannas of Central Africa. Most recently, Fay has turned his attention to the redwood forests in California, which boast some of the oldest, tallest, and largest trees in the world. To learn more about this special ecosystem, Fay walked the entire range of redwood trees, over 1,000 kilometers, to document the state of this iconic forest.
