These wonderful Canadian performers will bring some good
East Coast holiday cheer to our stage.
Since their first album
in 1991, Newfoundland’s The Irish Descendants have been
spreading the music of Newfoundland and their Irish roots with
great energy and humour to audiences and music lovers around the
world. Through their exquisitely produced recordings with songs
ranging from sensitive, touching ballads to high energy,
toe-tapping reels, along with their heartwarming and humorous
live performances, this award-winning, talented group from The
Rock have won a large and loyal fan base.
Cape Breton’s Mary Jane Lamond is a truly special artist who
sings in the rare and beautiful traditional Scottish Gaelic. Her
dedication to this Scottish traditional in Cape Breton has made
her one of the best Celtic traditional artists in Canada. As her
superb albums indicate, Mary Jane is not content to simply sing
ancient songs in Gaelic, for she infuses fresh life and a
contemporary worldbeat sound and instrumentation into this old
music.
