Here’s your chance to hear a jazzy twist to some classical and
seasonal favourites. The Toronto Jazz Septet, led by pianist
Bill Mays and featuring some of Canada’s best jazz musicians
including Alberta’s saxophone great P.J. Perry, celebrates the
season with a program of holiday tunes by Bill Evans, Rodgers
and Hammerstein, Claude Debussy, Thelonious Monk, and a special
jazz adaptation of Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite. In fact, these
top jazz players put ‘hip’ back in Christmas with their
exceptional skill, swinging arrangements, great ensemble
playing, and delightful solos - so much so that last year’s
concerts in Edmonton, Winnipeg, and Toronto received glowing
reviews and high praise from the audiences. So come on out for a
spirited and appealing show of swinging jingle jazz to get you
right for the holiday season. |
