Steve Bellamy

Steve Bellamy specializes in jazz and chamber music recording and producing and is the founder of the Canadian jazz label, Addo Records. Known for his musical approach to the recording process, Bellamy works with many of Canada’s leading jazz and classical musicians. His recordings have received several awards, including four Juno Awards, seventeen Juno nominations, and have been released on many major and independent labels.  

He has recorded or produced more than 150 commercial CDs. Artists he has worked with include John Stetch, Kirk MacDonald with Pat LaBarbera and Joe Sullivan, Ted Quinlan, Brian Dickinson with Jerry Bergonzi, Ted warren, Mike Murley, Rich Brown, Fieldtrip, Dafnis Prieto, Min Rager, the Amelia Piano Trio, Barry Romberg with Donny McCaslin, Joel Haynes with Seamus Blake, Byproduct, Kelly Jefferson, Jane Bunnett, Isabel Bayrakdarian, Anton Kuerti, The Gryphon Trio, and James Ehnes.  

As an educator he has taught courses in music recording and production at the University of Hartford (Hartt School), McGill University, The Banff Centre, and Humber College. He holds a bachelor of music degree from UPEI and a master of music degree in sound recording from McGill University, and remains actively involved in audio research. He is currently associate dean at the Humber School of Creative & Performing Arts in Toronto.
