Nan Hughes
Nan Hughes is a versatile artist whose musical interests have taken her around the world. Solo orchestral appearances include the Vienna Chamber Orchestra in Vienna and Eisenstadt, the Norddeutscher Rundfunk Orchestra in Hamburg, the Dnipropetrovsk Symphony Orchestra in Kiev, the Calgary, Edmonton, Londonm, and Vancouver symphonies in Canada, and the Charlotte Symphony in North Carolina. She has toured throughout Europe, the United States, Ukraine, and Brazil as soloist with New York’s Continuum chamber music ensemble. As a member of the vocal trio, Times Three, she has appeared with the Baltimore, Charleston, Edmonton, Idaho Falls, Lubbock, and Plainfield symphonies. In Macedonia, she filmed Buzarovskis’s Songs of Peace and War for Macedonian television. Alberta audiences heard her as alto soloist with the Calgary Philharmonic in A Salute to Vienna in Banff (2003), in Handel's Messiah and in Vivaldi's Gloria, as a soprano soloist in Mozart's Mass in C minor with The Bow Valley Chorus in Banff and Canmore (2000-2001), in the Canadian premiere of Penderecki's Credo at The Banff Centre (2000), and in a concert version of Verdi's Falstaff with the Calgary Philharmonic (1999). In October 1998, she was a soloist with the Alberta Ballet, singing Berlioz' Les Nuits D'Ete, accompanied by the Calgary Philharmonic and The Edmonton Symphony Orchestra.
