Steven Ross Smith
For 30 years, Steven Ross Smith has been a writer and literary activist. Since co-co-ordinating the 11th International Festival of Sound Poetry in Toronto and co-founding Underwhich Editions in the 1970s, Smith spent almost two decades (1990-2007) as director of the Sage Hill Writing Experience, and is currently director of the Literary Arts department at The Banff Centre. Through all of these roles, Smith has devoted considerable energy to literary vitality. Over the years, Smith has gained a reputation as an innovative writer and performer of sound poetry, has published a dozen books of poetry, fiction, and non-fiction, and has appeared on several recordings.
