Rebecca Belmore

Rebecca Belmore was born is Upsala, Ontario, and currently resides in Vancouver. She attended the Ontario College of Art and Design, Toronto and is internationally recognized for her performances and installations. Since 1987, her multi-disciplinary work has addressed history, place and identity. Belmore was Canada’s official representative at the 51st Venice Biennale. Solo exhibitions include The Named and the Unnamed (2002), Morris and Helen Belkin Art Gallery, Vancouver; and 33 Pieces (2001), Blackwood Gallery, Mississauga. She has been included in numerous group exhibitions Houseguests (2001),Art Gallery of Ontario, Toronto; Longing and Belonging: From the Faraway Nearby (1995), SITE Santa Fe; and Land, Spirit, Power (1992),National Gallery of Canada, Ottawa.
