Joan Thomas

Joan Thomas is a Winnipeg writer. She was a contributing reviewer and books columnist for the Globe and Mail for many years.  Her first novel Reading by Lightning (Goose Lane Editions, 2008) won a Commonwealth Prize and the Amazon.ca First Novel Award. Her second novel, Curiosity (McClelland and Stewart, 2010) was nominated for the Scotia Bank Giller Prize. Joan has edited two short fiction anthologies: Turn of the Story (with Heidi Harms) and the Journey Prize Anthology 22 (with Pasha Malla and Alissa York). She's worked at The Banff Centre once before, as Narrative Prose Faculty in the 2010 Wired Writing Studio. She's now at work on a contemporary novel.
