Audrey Thomas

Audrey Thomas was born and raised in New York State but has lived and worked on Canada’s west coast since 1959. Her travel articles have appeared in En Route Magazine and elsewhere. Her short story collections include Two in the Bush and Other Stories, Real Mothers, Goodbye Harold, Good Luck, The Wild Blue Yonder, which won the B.C. Book Prize, and The Path of Totality. She is also the author of a number of highly acclaimed novels, including, Latakia, Mrs. Blood, Songs My Mother Taught Me, Graven Images, Intertidal Life, and Coming Down from Wa, the last two of which were each nominated for a Governor General’s Award and won the B.C. Book Prize. Her latest book is Tattycoram (Goose Lane publishing, 2005). Audrey Thomas has also won the Canada-Australia Prize, the Marian Engel Award, the W. O. Mitchell Award for Mentoring, and the Matt Cohen Award. She lives on Galiano Island, B.C.
