Joan Kwuon

Kwuon is noted for “her graceful stage presence and passionate musicality,” which have brought her worldwide acclaim among critics, conductors and audiences. A native of Los Angeles, Kwuon received her professional training at Indiana University, Juilliard, the Cleveland Institute of Music, and the European Mozart Academy. Her repertoire ranges from Brahms and Bach to Previn and Stravinsky. She is also devoted to raising funds for breast cancer research and awareness among younger women. She founded the non-profit organization, Artists for Breast Cancer Survival, Inc., which presents Artists for the Cure at Carnegie Hall, a gala benefit concert that has featured the likes of Tony Bennett, Itzhak Perlman, Dawn Upshaw, Roberta Flack and Cho-Liang Lin.

Joan Kwuon’s fate was sealed with her debut performance at Tanglewood under the baton of André Previn and later at her New York recital debut at Alice Tully Hall. With a repertoire ranging from the masters—Brahms and Bach—to contemporary geniuses like André Previn and Igor Stravinsky, Joan Kwuon offers dramatic and intriguing range.
