Kitty Scott nominated curator Diana Nemiroff for the 2012 Governor General's Awards for Visual and Media Arts

On Wednesday, March 28 at the Governor General's Awards for Visual and Media Arts, eminent curator Diana Nemiroff was honoured with the award for Outstanding Contribution in recognition of the many significant contributions she has made in contemporary visual arts in Canada over the course of her pioneering curatorial career. Kitty Scott, director of Visual Arts at The Banff Centre, both nominated Nemiroff for the award and introduced her at the awards ceremony held at Rideau Hall.

Nominated by The Banff Centre, TD Bank Group has won a 2012 National Business for the Arts Partnership Award for support of artists in the Banff International Workshop in Jazz and Creative Music.

Quatour Zäide wins first prize at Joseph Haydn Competition in Vienna

The third place winners of the 2010 BISQC placed first in the string quartet category of the fifth International Joseph Haydn Chamber Music Competition, which commemorates the personality and oeuvre of Joseph Haydn. Competgition repertoire places emphasis on chamber music from both the First and the Second Viennese School.

Wednesday evening, Tafelmusik treated its Toronto audience to the big-screen experience of House of Dreams.  Like the Galileo Project, this multi-media show House of Dreams was developed and workshopped here at The Banff Centre.

Hail Bright Cecilia: The Cecilia String Quartet makes its Buffalo debut

"Prizewinners at international string quartet competitions in both Osaka, Japan in 2008 and Bordeaux, France, in 2010 and the winners of a Galaxie Rising Stars Award in Canada, the group went on to capture the First Prize at the Banff International String Quartet Competition, Canada's most prestigious, in 2010."

Cecilia String Quartet sets great music aglow

“Northwestern University’s three-weekend Winter Chamber Music Festival began the evening of January 6…. The concert opened with Mozart’s String Quartet No. 16, which he dedicated to Haydn. The work had bursts of fun, which the players handled with sparkling dexterity. Sir Georg Solti said he believed in God because of Mozart. After hearing the Cecilia play this quartet, I know why.”
