Winner of the 2004 Scots Traditional Music Award for Best Folk Band of the Year, Old Blind Dogs is one of the original, cutting-edge musical outfits in Scotland's new roots revival. For more than ten years, the group has stood at the leading edge of the music scene that has both reawakened and revolutionized Scottish folk music. In the process their skill, talent and verve have won them international acclaim and devoted fans wherever they perform.
Old Blind Dogs have developed their own trademark style - dynamic percussion and bluesy harmonica fuel delicately-phrased melodies of traditional songs. With their unique arrangements, high-energy playing and intensely felt singing, this neo-traditional supergroup from Scotland is firmly rooted on the world music map. In concert, their respectful yet bracingly modern musical attack is a source of continual surprise equally capable of moving your heart and your feet.
For tickets to Old Blind Dogs, call The Banff Centre Box Office at 1-800-413-8368 or 403-762-6301. Tickets are also available through TicketMaster.
The Banff Centre’s Playbill Series continues through the summer with performances by artists including Alpha Yaya Diallo (June 24); Shooglenifty with special guests Fiamma Fumana (August 9); The Johnny Clegg Band featuring the music of Juluka and Savuka (August 14); and Sylvain Émard Danse (Sept 3).
