With angelic vocals and luscious harmonies, The Rankin Sisters - Raylene, Heather, and Cookie - will bring the sounds of a Maritime Christmas to The Banff Centre’s Eric Harvie Theatre, Saturday, December 10 at 8:00 p.m.
With their trademark step-dancing and Celtic-Canadian, roots-influenced pop music, the sisters’ holiday concerts continue to sell out from coast to coast. Joining the Rankin Sisters in concert are some of their long-time friends, a number of the Maritimes’ most talented musicians. For this special seasonal concert, the Rankin Sisters and their band will perform holiday classics, including songs sung in Gaelic and Rankin family favourites.
The Rankin Sisters’ 1997 holiday album Do You Hear: Christmas with Heather, Cookie & Raylene Rankin continues to be one of the best-selling Christmas recordings in Canada, with a universal appeal and a reverence for tradition. Having sold over two million records and won five Juno Awards, more than a dozen East Coast Music Awards, and a couple of Canadian Country Music awards with the Rankin Family, the Rankin Sisters are certain to impress.
Tickets for all Banff Centre events are available through The Banff Centre Box Office: 1-800-413-8368 or 403-762-6301. The Centre’s Playbill Series continues with: Les Deux Mondes Theatre (January 7); Red Priest (January 12); African Guitar Summit (January 14); The Shanghai Circus (January 22); Red Sky Performance Theatre (January 27); Eric Bibb and Linda Tillery (January 29), and much more.
