The Banff Centre partners with Banff Community Foundation for near $1 million endowment
This month, The Banff Centre will make a substantial investment in the Bow Valley community, agreeing to place an endowment of close to $1 million with The Banff Community Foundation. The endowment will boost the profile of this local foundation, and ensure funding into the future for Banff Centre programming, learning and scholarships, encouraging local, national, and international artists to choose Banff as a place to learn, create, and perform.
“The Banff community has been a significant supporter of Banff Centre activities since the Centre’s inception in 1933,” says president and CEO Mary Hofstetter. “This is a tremendous opportunity for us to continue to bring the highest calibre of artists into the community, and to show our ongoing commitment to Banff.”
The Centre chose to partner with The Banff Community Foundation after a rigorous selection process. The partnership will also allow the Centre to apply for matching funds from the Canadian Arts and Heritage Sustainability Program. The result of generous corporate, foundation, and individual donations, the endowment will be invested and administered by the Foundation, with earned revenue earmarked for artistic scholarships, maintenance of the Leighton artist studios, and the Banff International String Quartet Competition.
"I’m thrilled, and I know I speak on behalf of the foundation board members when I say this,” says Fiona Mactaggart, chair of the Board of Directors of The Banff Community Foundation. “For The Banff Centre to choose us as their Community Foundation partner is a huge vote of confidence in our ability and commitment to this community. Everyone will benefit from this partnership: The Banff Centre, the Banff community and the Foundation."
The Banff Community Foundation works with people and organizations in Banff to develop ideas and fund projects that build and strengthen the community through endowment building, grant-making, and community leadership in the areas of, arts, education, environment, health, heritage, recreation, and social services.
