Winter Concert Series at The Banff Centre presents an outstanding line-up of visiting artists

Trumpeter Guy Few, a sought-after soloist and chamber musician, virtuoso keyboard percussionist Michael Burritt, and Miró Quartet violist John Largess are just a few of the visiting artists who will be part of The Banff Centre’s upcoming winter music residencies. They’ll be joined by more than 40 exceptional emerging professional musicians from around the world for the Centre’s Music & Sound winter concert series. The series kicks off with the Taste of the Series Friday, January 13 and additional opening week performances January 11 to 15, and continues with dozens of formal and informal concerts through the winter season.

Not to be missed, the Taste of the Series will be the launch party for the winter concert season. Enjoy a sampling of musical selections and a preview of the winter cast of musicians, followed by a reception with a taste of wine and finger foods. Taste of the Series begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Rolston Recital Hall. The season continues through March 23 with weekly Wednesday noon concerts at The Banff Centre, Concert Night Out Fridays at the Centre, and Sunday afternoon concerts at the Canmore Seniors’ Centre. Audience members are also invited to Wine and Concert Chats January 20, February 3, and March 3 at 7 p.m. in the Centre’s Bentley Chamber Music Studio.

Additional highlights of the winter series include a special program January 27 featuring the music of Mozart, in celebration of the 250th anniversary of his birth in 1756, and a performance on March 23 by the Jupiter String Quartet, winners of the 2004 Banff International String Quartet Competition.
