Colin James is back in the spotlight with the release of his tenth album, Limelight, a blend of soul, rhythm, and roots. Colin James and his band, including special guest Colin Linden, will bring a soulful new sound to The Banff Centre’s Eric Harvie Theatre February 24, as part of his coast-to-coast national tour.

With a career that spans blues, rock, big band, and R&B, his 1988 self-titled debut went multi-platinum in Canada. Since then he has sold more than a million records and has won six Juno awards.

“I’ve found something musically that I like more than anything, and that’s soul,” James says about Limelight. “It doesn’t have to be soul music in the traditional sense, but soulful… something that has emotional energy, a bit of a yearning to it.” To recreate the vibe of Limelight, James will be touring with a six-piece band, including two horn players.

Released in September 2005, Limelight is packed with 14 tracks including carefully chosen covers like Van Morrison’s classic “Into The Mystic” and Bob Dylan’s “Watchin’ The River Flow”, and a selection of soulful originals like “Far Away Like a Radio” and “Better Way to Heaven”, which showcase James’ development as a singer and songwriter.

Tickets for all Banff Centre events are available through The Banff Centre Box Office: 1-800-413-8368 or 403-762-6301. The Centre’s Playbill Series continues with: Cori Caulfield Molt (March 2), Dulcinea Langfelder & Co. (March 4), The Laura Love Band (March 5), Flook (March 10), Al Stewart (March 11), Rosheen (March 19), Guy Davis (March 21, 22), and much more.
