Brash, soulful, and lively songs about love and lust, humour and pain, Saffire — The Uppity Blues Women deliver acoustic blues with gorgeous abandon. Over the course of six albums and hundreds of gigs the group has proven themselves with their talent, originality, wit, and infectious spirit. Saffire — The Uppity Blues Women will bring their rollicking vocal and instrumental mix to The Banff Centre’s Margaret Greenham Theatre, April 9.

Members Ann Rabson, Gaye Adegbalola, and Andrea Faye bring to life old blues gems from the 20’s and 30’s interspersed with their own excellently crafted originals. Their hard work and talent at combining vocals, piano, guitar, harmonica, and more has earned has earned Saffire — The Uppity Blues Women ranking as one of the most popular acoustic blues bands in the world.

Powerful musicianship brought together on playfully named albums such as Hot Flash, Broad Casting, Cleaning House, and Live & Uppity has earned the group hordes of new fans and critical acclaim. As declared by the Buffalo News “Honey-in-the-woods harmonies, a sass-and-pepper spirit, and enough attitude to make Dennis Rodman blush, these middle-aged mothers kick booty… self-assured, rowdy, outrageous.”
