2006 Banff Mountain Book Festival seeks best adventure books
The 2006 Banff Mountain Book Festival is seeking stories and images that capture the essence of mountain experiences. The festival, presented by Canadian Mountain Holidays and National Geographic, is seeking entries for its 13th annual international book competition.
An international jury will judge the submissions and present awards in four categories: Mountain Literature, Mountain Exposition, Mountain Image, and Adventure Travel. In addition, they will select the best overall book, regardless of category, for Grand Prize.
To be entered in the competition, submissions must be in English, except in the category of Mountain Image in which submissions in all languages will be admitted. Books must be first editions published in 2005 or 2006, and seven copies of each submission must be received at the festival office in Banff by July 13, 2006. For titles published after June 30, the deadline for entries is August 15, 2006.
The largest book festival of its kind in the world, the Banff Mountain Book Festival brings the spirit of outdoor adventure and the tradition of mountain literature to Banff every year, uniting writers, publishers, editors, photographers and, of course, readers. This year’s festival will feature guest speakers, readings, seminars, the international book competition, a book fair, signings, and launches.
2006 book entry forms and for information on the 2006 Banff Mountain Book Festival are available.
