Presented as part of the Banff Summer Arts Festival
In a world premiere convergence, celebrated trumpeter Jens Lindemann and an eleven-piece brass ensemble will take the Banff Summer Arts Festival audience on a high-energy journey through 500 years of music evolution.
Incorporating trumpet, saxophone, trombone, bass, piano, and percussion, Brassfire will embrace everything from the warm sounds of Brazil and the enchanting notes of Japan, through contemporary pop, Latin salsas, and swinging big band grooves. Offering an innovative approach to classical concert presentation, Lindemann will bring together an outstanding line-up of brass virtuosi as well as an original lighting design for a fully staged presentation.
To demystify the classical concert experience, Lindemann will speak to the audience during the performance, stepping right off the stage to bring the crowd along on his journey. Presented as part of the Taste of the Festival Weekend, Jens Lindemann will bring the fresh and exciting musical experience Brassfire to the stage at The Banff Centre’s Eric Harvie Theatre, July 8.
Jens Lindemann
Trumpeter Jens Lindemann is hailed as one of the most celebrated soloists in his instrument’s history. Classically trained at the Juilliard School in New York, his ability to perform as a diverse artist has placed him at the front of a new generation of musicians. He has played in every major concert venue in the world — from the Philharmonics of New York and Los Angeles, to London, Hamburg, and Tokyo’s Suntory Hall.
Lindemann has appeared as an orchestral soloist, recorded with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, performed as an official trumpeter for the N.H.L. Stanley Cup finals, and played lead trumpet with the renowned Canadian Brass. Nominated for Grammy and Juno Awards, and winner of the Echo Klassik in Germany, Lindemann has won first prizes in classical trumpet competitions around the world, made numerous television and film appearances, and performed at London’s “Last Night of the Proms” for more than 40,000 people.
