New Media: Blast Theory (Brighton, England)

Blast Theory: Can you see me now? A seven-member artists’ collective based in Brighton, Blast Theory is led by Matt Adams, Ju Row Farr, and Nick Tandavanitj. In the past 15 years, the group has emerged at the forefront of interactive performance art and digital technology. Early works such as Gunmen Kill Three, Chemical Wedding, and Stampede drew on club culture to create multimedia performances that invited participation. From 1997, the group’s work further diversified into online, installation, and interactive works such as Kidnap and the internationally acclaimed Desert Rain. Since 2000, Blast Theory has been experimenting with mobile digital devices and interactive performance. As part of the Fleck Fellowship, the group brings the popular performance piece Can You See Me Now? to Banff.
