Montréal Danse’s FURIES Alpha 1/24 (The Monsters Within) has been described as an all out, breakneck dance of fury and desire driven by rage, tenderness, monstrous speed, shifting alliances, and seduction. In one of only three performances in Alberta, FURIES Alpha 1/24 (The Monsters Within) will take to The Banff Centre’s stage in the Eric Harvie Theatre, October 20.
Presented by Montréal Danse, FURIES Alpha 1/24 (The Monsters Within) is the latest full-length work by choreographer Estelle Clareton. The production promises to capture audiences and speed them away on a voyage of passion, loss, and hope spurred on by an urgent and rhythmical score from the composer Éric Forget and set amidst a stunning visual environment created by noted painter François Vincent.
Montréal Danse continues to develop its creative relationship with choreographer Estelle Clareton with the creation of this new evening-length work. The production follows the success of Clareton's earlier works for the company, Je ne m'en souviens pas très bien (2000) and From Julia to Émile, 1949 (2002). Clarenton’s response to recent human dramas and age-old tragedies, FURIES Alpha 1/24 (The Monsters Within) has been heralded as another emotional and explosive success.
Acclaimed for their charisma, passion, and dancing excellence Montréal Danse is devoted to the creation of vibrant works with an international roster of choreographers. Continually developing its reputation for taking risks, the company has become a veritable center for research and creation of contemporary dance. The company has created and produced nearly 40 works with almost as many choreographers since its inception in 1986 and has brought its broad conception of contemporary dance to cities in Canada, South America, the United States, Europe, Asia, and Central America.
The Banff Centre’s fall 2006 Playbill Series continues with Harry Manx and Michael Kaeshammer (October 27), the Jim Cuddy Band (November 8), the Chucky Danger Band (November 11), and the James Keelaghan Trio (November 12).
Tickets for all Banff Centre events are available through The Banff Centre Box Office: 1-800-413-8368 or 403-762-6301.
