Mountain Culture at The Banff Centre continues its learning programs this fall with the Banff Adventure Filmmakers’ Seminar, November 1 to 7, and the third annual Mountain Writing Program, October 26 to November 17.

Adventure Filmmakers’ Seminar 2007

With cameo appearances by special guests, this five-day seminar will be led by Richard Else, experienced remote-location filmmaker and currently series producer of BBC Scotland’s monthly primetime series The Adventure Show, and Michael Brown, celebrated director of more than 25 films and winner of three national Emmys from five nominations. The seminar will include intense and interactive sessions with these seminar leaders, attendance at the festival weekend, and crucial time for individual hands-on project development.

Mountain Writing Program 2007

In this unique three-week residency, six established writers will develop their own writing projects on  topics in the area of mountain culture, mountain environment, mountain life, adventure, climbing, and/or mountain history. Within the spectacular environs of Banff National Park, the residency offers participants the time, privacy, and editorial resources to focus on their work. Participants will interact with other mountain writers and editors in group discussions and individual consultations, as well as with invited guest speakers and artists from other fields.

The Banff Adventure Photography Workshop is supported by National Geographic. The Banff Adventure Filmmakers Seminar is supported by Patagonia and The North Face. The Banff Mountain Writing Program is sponsored by Mount Engadine Lodge.
