Kerry Stauffer, formerly a director of the Banff World Television Festival (BWTF), has been appointed director of the Creative Electronic Environment (CEE) at The Banff Centre. Encompassing television and video production, interactive media, and technical services, CEE is the primary support for all artistic work produced at The Banff Centre in electronic media.
“The breadth of knowledge that Kerry brings to this position will be a tremendous asset to The Banff Centre,” says Sarah Iley, the Centre’s vice president of programming. “Our artists and creative partners expect a high level of expertise and technical support in all forms of electronic media, and I know that with Kerry’s leadership of the CEE team, we will continue to exceed their expectations.”
Working with Achilles Media to produce the BWTF as well as other television conferences and learning events, Stauffer oversaw the operation and organization for the annual festival and competition, and was technical producer for all festival events. One of the premiere events in the television industry, the BWTF attracts close to 1,000 entries annually for its juried competition. Prior to her role as director of production and program competition, Stauffer was director of production for the Banff Television Foundation, and executive produced the World Congress of Arts Producers and Performance in 2003. Her appointment as director of CEE returns her to The Banff Centre – she previously held positions at the Centre as a facilitator in media arts (now the Banff New Media Institute).
Officially established in 2000 as an extension of The Banff Centre’s long-term involvement in supporting artistic work in television and, more recently, interactive media, CEE provides technical expertise, training, facilities and equipment to artists and private clients. Facilities in CEE include equipment for animation, interactive design, all facets of television and video production, and 3D visualization.
