With 25 years of anthems to draw upon, Spirit of the West will celebrate a quarter-century of commitment to the Canadian music scene with an outdoor concert in The Banff Centre’s open air amphitheatre on Sunday, June 29. The Vancouver-based group’s anniversary aligns with the Centre’s 75th year, and the band has a catalogue of recordings, performances, road trips, and tall tales from as far back as 1983 to bring to the stage.
Formed as a folk trio and currently a five-member ensemble, Spirit of the West has evolved over the years into an innovative alternative band known for their songs “Political,” “The Crawl,” “Venice is Sinking”, “Save This House,” and “Home For a Rest.”
Crossing multiple musical, electrical, and acoustical boundaries over a discography of 12 albums, the show will be a highlight of the Canada Day long weekend in Banff, set in The Banff Centre’s natural outdoor amphitheatre space ringed by the Rockies.
