Net Jam 2001: An interactive part of Aboriginal Streams: Aboriginal Radio on the Internet
Saturday, April 7, 2001, 9:00 p.m. – 12:00 a.m. (Mountain Time)

BANFF, Alta.— Aboriginal media makers, radio stations, radio networks, and artists explore how streamed media and the Web can serve Aboriginal artists and their communities through a program at The Banff Centre called Aboriginal Streams: Aboriginal Radio on the Internet runs April 2 - 8, 2001.

"Aboriginal radio on the Internet has the potential to link Aboriginal radio stations, programs, cultures and artists," says Marrie Mumford, artistic director of Aboriginal Arts at the Banff Centre for the Arts. "The ultimate impact is to engender a network that will, in the long run, link Aboriginal artists and communities to national and international indigenous communities."

The on-line streaming party/net jam takes place on Saturday, April 7 starting at 9:00 p.m. and will run until 12:00 a.m. (Mountain Time). Net Jam is an interactive audio streaming environment, with content coming from Aboriginal dj's, artists, new media types, and broadcasters. Hosted by Elaine Bomberry, the event will also feature live performances by Cheryl l'Hirondelle-Waynohtęw, Olivia Tailfeathers, Rosa John, and Joanne Storm. Please log on and check it out at http://www.banffcentre.ca/aboriginal_Arts/streaming/default.htm

Aboriginal Streams is presented by the Aboriginal Arts Program in partnership with the Banff New Media Institute at The Banff Centre for the Arts and in association with CKRZ Radio, Six Nations, Grand River Territory and Radio 90.
