The participants will take the stage at The Club - the licensed cabaret-style venue located in The Banff Centre’s theatre complex where audience members will be treated to incredible, live jazz every day of the week. This week’s Club events (Tuesday May 16 – Friday May 19) start at 9 PM, and are pay-what-you-can at the door.

Then on Saturday, May 20, some of the fabulous guest artists will make the air sizzle in Margaret Greenham Theatre. Make sure to reserve your tickets for this concert at the Banff Centre Box Office or by calling (403) 762-6301.

Pianist/composer/author Kenny Werner is the artist-in-residence for the 2000 jazz workshop at The Banff Centre. He brings a world of jazz experience to the workshop, believing in the importance of developing the complete jazz musician and integrating the skills of the contemporary improvisor, the composer, the performer and the listener. This approach carries the program forward into the next century and provides a creative holistic education for the next generation of jazz musicians.

He will be joined by renowned guest artists, including such greats as Judi Silvano (voice), Hugh Fraser (piano, trombone), Joey Baron (drums), and Joe Lovano (saxophone). Workshop participants will also be coached by a team of exciting jazz performers including Owen Howard (drums), David Schroeder, Tony Malaby, and Joakim Milder (saxophone), Angie Sanchez and David Restivo (piano), Johannes Weidenmueller (double bass), Gordon Vernick and Dave Ballou (trumpet), Ben Monder (guitar) and Christophe Schweizer (trombone).

Jazz fans can also look forward to upcoming events from May 22 to June 3 as the jazz workshop continues with nightly, pay-what-you-can jazz concerts at The Club (Mondays through Fridays, 9 PM) and ticketed events at 8 PM on Saturday nights ($15 adults/$10 students/seniors) featuring visiting artists and coaches performing on stage in the Margaret Greenham Theatre.
