Summer Solstice celebrated with wonderful music!

So what will you be doing on the longest day of the year?
Why not join us in The Banff Centre Dining Room this Wednesday, June 21 for The Summer Solstice Concert. Musicians from the Chamber Music residency at The Banff Centre will entertain with wonderful chamber music beginning at 9 PM, and continuing on until the setting of the sun.
Tickets to this popular event are $18 for adults, $12 for students and seniors, with desserts and coffee served.
Glorious music continues all week with Art of the Ensemble concerts taking place in Rolston Recital Hall on June 22, 23, 24, 26, and 28. Tickets are $15/$10 and the concerts begin at 8 PM. Mostly Baroque Sundays take place every Sunday until August 6, and are held at St. Georgesin-the-Pines Anglican Church at 100 Beaver St. Concerts begin at 3 PM, with donations accepted at the door.
The Thursday, June 22 concert features the Canadian premiere of Gabriela Franks piece for cello and piano, Rios Profundos, as well as a Strauss violin & piano Sonata.
On Friday, June 23, the concert features works by Beethoven, Messiaen as well as a performance of Chopins Cello Sonata by visiting artists Laurence Lesser, cello, from Boston and pianist Bernadene Blaha of California.
Saturday, June 24 features a special performance by world renowned violinist, Lorand Feneyves. Mr. Feneyves along with Bernadene Blaha will be performing Faures A Major Violin & Piano Sonata.
On Sunday, June 25, come and join us at the beautiful St. Georges-in-the-Pines church for a selection of music performed by The Banff Chamber Players. These highly accomplished musicians take part in Music & Sounds summer programs and present concert repertoire from the Baroque period.
Over 40 musicians are attending the chamber music program this year, and come from all over the world including Australia, Italy, Korea, Israel, Scotland, France, the US and Canada. Chamber music is an exquisite experience for both musicians and audience. For the musician, it offers an opportunity to learn important skills they will need for success in their careers balance, listening and collegial collaboration. For the audience, it is a chance to watch and listen to fine musicians in an intimate setting as they perform some of the most glorious music ever written.
