Resident Quartet from France perform this Thursday
Music & Sounds resident string quartet from France, Quatuor Satie, perform this Thursday, November 9 at 4:30 pm in the Music building at The Banff Centre. The Quatuor Satie are quickly becoming an audience favourite here at the Centre, and are enjoying the opportunity to perform in front of an appreciative musical audience. Their afternoon recital includes string quartet works by Haydn, and by french composer Henri Duttileux.Quatuor Satie features Frédéric Aurier and Aude Lefevre on violin, Patrick Oriol on viola and Guillaume Lafeuille on cello. The four began playing together about one and a half years ago, and are all graduates of the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Lyon, France.
They perform regularly in concerts throughout France and on television and radio, and have come to The Banff Centre to take some much-needed time away from every-day commitments to strengthen as a quartet and work on developing some new repertoire for performances.
These "casual afternoon" recitals, on selected Tuesday and Thursdays at 4:30 pm, take place in the Chamber Music Room (now named the Bentley Chamber Music Studio) in the Music building.
The recitals are free and are scheduled according to the musicians goals as they proceed through the residency programs. Please call The Box Office each week for current concert information.
Also this week, visiting artists Jane Coop and Jeremy Brown share the stage with the resident musicians on Friday, November 10 at 7:30 pm in Rolston Recital Hall. Pianist Jane Coop has established herself as one of Canadas most prominent and distinguished musicians, and is currently on faculty at the University of British Columbia. Saxophonist Jeremy Brown is Professor of Music at the University of Calgary and is widely recognized as an author, performer and educator. Both are here at The Banff Centre to collaborate with the musicians in the program and offer career and artistic advice to the residents.
