An exciting week of music opens up the month of February at The Banff Centre for the Arts! Canadian flutist Timothy Hutchins performs in collaboration with Music & Sounds resident musicians Friday, February 4 at 7:30 pm in Rolston Recital Hall.
Timothy Hutchins has received world-wide critical acclaim as the principal flutist in the Montreal Symphony, and has had many career highlights including performances throughout North and South America, Europe and Asia. Currently a professor of flute at McGill, Timothy Hutchins, as a visiting guest artist, will work with Music & Sounds winter residency musicians to help them achieve specific career or artistic goals. This collaboration between musicians is at the very heart of Music & Sounds programming.
Other visiting artists to perform this month include US percussionist Bill Cahn of the Toronto-based percussion group NEXUS (February 11), Canadian jazz pianist Tommy Banks (February 15), Canadian pianist Anton Kuerti (February 25) and German violinist Thomas Brandis (February 25).
On Sunday, February 6 in Canmore, join winter residents Deborah White, voilin (Australia) and Catherine Callary, piano (Canada) as they perform a piece by pianist/composer Jozef Wieniawski (1837-1912). Also hear a performance by Eva Fahlen, viola (Sweden) and a solo performance by Catherine Callary on piano. These informal concerts provide an opportunity to meet the musicians and learn more about the music they have chosen to play. Sunday concerts begin at 2:30pm, and are pay-what-you can. They are hosted by Music & Sounds artistic director, Isobel Rolston and take place in the Canmore Collegiate High School Theatre.
Our "Music at Noon" concert series continues every Wednesday at 12:00 pm in the Roltston Recital Hall. These concerts are pay-what-you-can, and feature collaborations among participants of the winter residency program.
Evening concert tickets are $12 for adults, $8 for
students and seniors, and $6 for concert lovers. For further details or tickets, please
