Music & Sound’s final
concert features Calgary’s ensemble 4!

Music & Sound’s final concert of the winter season takes place this Friday, March
17 with a performance by ensemble 4 in Rolston Recital Hall at 7:30 pm.
Calgary’s ensemble 4 consists of percussionists Rod Thomas Squance and Michael
Schuett, and the Bergmann Piano Duo (Elizabeth & Marcel Bergmann). They will present a
concert of light classics with an exotic flavour, with repertoire arranged for two pianos
and percussion by members of the group.
Rod Thomas Squance is a current participant in the winter residency program in Music &
Sound. He is very active as a soloist, has performed with the Calgary Philharmonic and Red
Deer Symphony Orchestras, and is currently pursuing a masters degree in Performance at the
University of Calgary.
Elizabeth and Marcel Bergmann were both in Music & Sound’s residency program in
1998. They have been playing as a duo for over 10 years, and are currently very active
with Mount Royal College in Red Deer. The collaboration between the Bergmann duo and
percussionists Rod Thomas Squance and Michael Schuett came out of a desire to broaden the
repertoire for duo piano, and together, as ensemble 4, the group has transcribed and
arranged many pieces for this instrumentation.
Tickets to this presentation are $12 for adults, $8 for students and seniors, and $6 for
