The Banff Centre and AIDS Bow Valley present acclaimed New York jazz pianist Fred Hersch in a special benefit concert on Friday, August 30 at 8:00 pm in the Rolston Recital Hall at The Banff Centre. All proceeds from this benefit concert go directly to AIDS Bow Valley, to support their HIV prevention and education programs throughout Banff, Canmore, Kananaskis, Morley, and Lake Louise.

Fred Hersch is one of the most visible HIV-positive performers in the world today, and has raised over $250,000 for HIV/AIDS education for the United States. Hersch has been living with HIV for 15 years, and this benefit concert is Hersch’s opportunity to directly support the vital work of AIDS Bow Valley.

HIV/AIDS and STD are on the rise within all sections of the population. Health Canada has reported a national increase in the cases of STD infections for the second year in a row. Amongst infection rates across Canada, Alberta rates remain high, with Banff accounting for a large number of the infections within Headwaters Health Authority.
