Pianist Anton Kuerti kicks off The Banff Centre’s Fall Concert Season

Join us in Rolston Recital Hall at The Banff Centre for concerts every week! Music & Sound’s Fall Concert Season begins this Wednesday, October 2, and runs until December 6, 2002.

This Friday, October 4 at 7:30 pm, pianist Anton Kuerti performs Schubert’s Fantasies for Four Hands and Beethoven’s Trio in C minor along with participants from the Long-term Career Development Residency in Music and Sound at The Banff Centre. Anton Kuerti is one of today’s most recorded artists. In Canada, Kuerti has played repeatedly with every orchestra, including some 30 concerts with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and four tours with the National Arts Centre Orchestra. He has given recitals and chamber music performances from coast to coast, and is heard regularly on CBC not only as a pianist, but also as a commentator, conductor and composer.

Musicians from all over the world come to Banff to participate in the 10-week residency program mentioned above. While at the Centre, musicians expand their artistic insight through rehearsal, performance opportunities, and interaction with fellow musicians and internationally recognized visiting artists. For audiences, this translates into a wonderful opportunity to hear world-class musicians perform at the Centre every week.

Bring your lunch and enjoy the Music at Noon series, every Wednesday at 12:00 noon in Rolston Recital Hall. These concerts are pay-what-you-can, and feature chamber and classical repertoire by musicians in the Long-term Career Development Residency program.

The Friday Evening concert series runs from October 4 until December 6 and will feature collaborative performances from our resident musicians and visiting artists. Friday evening concerts take place at 7:30 pm in the Rolston Recital Hall.

The popular Canmore Sundays concert series begins on October 22 at the Policeman’s Creek Drop-In Centre in downtown Canmore. These concerts begin at 2:30 pm, and are a great opportunity to chat and meet the resident musicians after their performances.

For more information or to reserve your tickets, please call The Banff Centre Box Office at 762-6301. Friday evening concerts are $15 for adults and $12 for seniors/students. Sundays and noon-hour concerts are pay-what-you-can.
