The concert will feature quartet music by Haydn and Hindemith, as well as a special performance of the Dvorak Piano Quintet, featuring the 2000 Esther Honens Piano Competition laureate, Marko Martin.

The Daedalus Quartet is currently on their Winner’s Tour, arranged by Music & Sound at The Banff Centre as part of the first-prize win during BISQC. The Winner’s Tour has taken them coast-to-coast in Canada, performing in major concert series in St. John’s, Toronto, Kitchener-Waterloo, London, Quebec, and Edmonton. Following their performance in Banff, the foursome will continue their tour, playing on stages in Calgary, Kamloops, Kelowna, Vancouver, Victoria, and Winnipeg. The quartet will also perform concerts in Tokyo, Japan, through a partnership between The Banff Centre and the Triton Arts Network.
 

In less than two years, since winning the grand prize at the 2001 Banff International String Quartet Comeptition, the Daedalus Quartet has became one of America’s outstanding young string quartets. The foursome consists of brother and sister violinists Kyu-Young Kim and Min-Young Kim, who alternate on first violin, violist Jessica Thompson, and cellist Raman Ramakirshnan.

The Banff International String Quartet Competition is widely acknowledged as the world’s leading string quartet competition. The next competition takes place at The Banff Centre from August 31 - September 5, 2004.
