November 1, 2004 Banff Centre Fall Concert Series goes downtown Concert Night Out – Friday, November 5 – 7:30 p.m. On Friday, November 5, Gwen Hoebig, one of Canada’s most outstanding violinists, will perform in a special concert at St George’s-in-the-Pines Anglican Church with Banff Centre musicians. “The church makes for an intimate and peaceful setting to enjoy chamber music,” says David Hoyt, artistic director of The Banff Centre’s music programs. This concert is the only event in the fall Friday night “Concert Night Out” series to be held downtown Banff. Gwen Hoebig first came to The Banff Centre in 1969 as an aspiring young violinist. She continued in the summer music programs through the 1970s and 1980s, and is now a visiting faculty member and mentor to artists in the music programs. Ms. Hoebig is a distinguished musician, who has performed all the major violin concerti with orchestras across Canada, the U.S., and Europe, and has performed with many of Canada’s foremost music festivals. She is currently concertmaster with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra. Friday’s concert is presented with the support of the Banff Community Foundation, and will feature works by Brahms, Bartók, and other composers. Tickets are $15 for adults $12 for students and seniors, and free for Concert Lover Cardholders. Call The Banff Centre Box Office at 762-6301 for more information. —30— High resolution photos of the fall music residents, and Gwen Hoebig are available. Media Contact
