A Night of Magical Wonder with O Vertigo’s Luna
Join
us at The Banff Centre on Saturday, March 8 as we present Luna, the
newest production by the Montreal-based dance company, O Vertigo. Co-presented
with Calgary’s Dancers Studio West, Luna features 11 dancers, and
thoughtful and innovative choreography by Ginette Laurin. This exhilarating
performance full of magical invention and genuine wonder will surely leave you
moonstruck!
Luna is a poetic, sensual piece that pays tribute to the human body. Choreographer Ginette Laurin has turned the body into a landscape to be explored in a vibrant succession of dance sequences that are smooth and dynamic while infused with a mixture of softness, frenzy, passion, and abandon.
Using magnifying glasses of varying strengths scattered across the stage, Luna reveals the delicate mechanics of the body, including the subtlest facial expressions.
Since its very beginnings in 1984, O Vertigo has enticed audiences world-wide with its powerful dance and imagery, winning international acclaim under the company’s founder, artistic director, and choreographer, Ginette Laurin. O Vertigo has performed in Quebec and throughout Canada, the United States, Europe, Brazil, Mexico, Israel, and Japan.
O Vertigo’s Luna takes place Saturday, March 8 at 8 p.m. in the Eric Harvie Theatre at The Banff Centre. Tickets are $22 for adults and $18 for students and seniors. To reserve your tickets or for more information, contact The Banff Centre Box Office at 1-800-413-8368 or (403) 762-6301, or click here.
