Banff Centre named one of Canadas Top 100 Employers
(Banff) The Banff Centre has been recognized as one of the countrys leading employers in the 2001 edition of "Canadas Top 100 Employers," written by Richard Yerema, a best-selling career author.
This definitive guide provides a listing of companies that lead their industries in offering a stimulating workplace environment as well as exceptional employee benefits and working conditions. The author researched 30,000 Canadian organizations before inviting the top 1,000 companies to submit detailed information about their employee benefits, working conditions, and overall human resources programs. Finalists were evaluated on how each employer compared to others in the same industry and from criteria that examined the physical environment of the workplace, employee/employer communication, and benefits and vacation.
The Banff Centre is one of only two post-secondary institutions and 13 Alberta employers that made the list. Yerema highlights the Centres unique location within a national park and UNESCO world heritage site, employee/employer relations, and the Centres extensive involvement in the community life of the local Banff and Bow Valley area. "The Centre provides its staff and facilities to host First Night, a very popular New Years Eve celebration of arts, culture, community, and family many of the Centres employees are volunteers with charitable organizations in the community."
Banff Centre acting president and CEO, Mary Hofstetter, says the Centre is delighted to be recognized as one of the top employers in Canada. "We are especially grateful with the acknowledgement of the community involvement of our employees. I think this designation reveals the calibre of our employees, the Centres commitment to the community, and the passion all of us have for working at this unique institution located within one of the worlds most beautiful national parks. We are very proud to be on this list." Hofstetter says this recognition will also give the Centre a leg up when it comes to hiring new staff. "The Bow Valley is a very competitive employment environment. Being designated one of Canadas top 100 employers will help us continue to attract the best and brightest staff and professionals from across the country. The quality of our staff helps to strengthen our draw for conference guests and is a benefit to all of the Centres participants."
