Alberta businessmen Bruce Bentley and Murray Edwards join The Banff Centre Board of Governors

BANFF - Philip G. Ponting, Chair of The Board of Governors of The Banff Centre, is pleased to announce the appointment of Bruce Bentley of Edmonton and Murray Edwards of Calgary to The Banff Centre Board of Governors. Bruce Bentley is the president and CEO of Maclab Enterprises, a private investment and real estate development firm with operations in Alberta, British Columbia, the Northwest Territories, and the United States. He started with Maclab in 1995 as vice-president finance and controller, and became president in 1998. Before joining Maclab, Mr. Bentley worked for Bramalea Inc. for 15 years in the company’s Calgary and Toronto offices. Mr. Bentley is a graduate of the Alberta School of Business and a past president of the University of Alberta Alumni Association. Murray Edwards holds various leadership positions and was named one of Canada’s leaders for the 21st century by TIME Canada magazine (1999). He is president of Edco Financial Holdings Ltd. and chairman and CEO of Magellan Aerospace Corp. Mr. Edwards is also chairman of Ensign Resource Service Group Inc. and Penn West Petroleum Ltd. He serves as director for the Business Development Bank of Canada, Canadian Natural Resources Ltd., and Rio Alto Exploration Ltd. In addition, Mr. Edwards is a part owner of the Calgary Flames and a majority owner of Resorts of the Canadian Rockies, a company that owns Lake Louise Ski Area and eight other ski resorts. Mr. Edwards holds degrees from the University of Saskatchewan (B. Comm.) and the University of Toronto (L.L.B. Hons.).
