For Immediate Release The Banff Centre hosts renowned Quebec-based chamber orchestra Les Violons du Roy
Quebec chamber orchestra supergroup Les Violons du Roy brings Baroque to the Banff Centre this Remembrance Day, November 11. The group will perform works by Bach, Purcell, Handel, Vivaldi, Telemann and Corelli. Formed in 1984 by artistic director Bernard Labadie, Les Violons du Roy has built worldwide acclaim, touring throughout North America and Europe. They have also recorded a number of award-winning albums, including the 2003 Juno Award for Best Classical Recording — of Mozart’s Requiem. With their joyous, energetic, and refined playing, Les Violons du Roy creates breathtaking music worthy of the group’s royal name. The Toronto Star calls Les Violons du Roy “absolutely enthralling.” In the UK, London’s Daily Telegraph says their performances are “joyful and intimate.” La Presse in Montreal says “Dans le genre, 10 sur 10.” Les Violons du Roy perform in the Margaret Greenham Theatre at The Banff Centre on Thursday, November 11, at 8 p.m. Tickets are available at The Banff Centre Box Office and through TicketMaster outlets.
